Nicholas Evans Book Giveaway

I loved The Smoke Jumper, loved The Loop.  Sorry Nick but I'm just not feelin' the love on The Divide.  I've picked it up and put it back down about 6 times.  And finally forced mineself to read it.  And about 3/4 of the way through it.  I finally and I mean FINALLY started feeling the inkling of a hook.

Good points: There are horses in some of it.  Part of it takes place in Montana and Wyoming.  Did I mention horses?

I'm not going to list the bad points.  Cause well ....... I'm just not.  But I will say.  You will read this book and wish there was more character development with the Hawkins (particularly Ty).

Contest ends for this 'slightly used book' on Monday when I will post a winner in a separate post.

This weeks question.....Mountains....Yes or No?

Personally I can't get enough of them.  I think every state should have them!

Tami Hoag Book Giveaway

Tami spells her name...same as me.  Tami rides a great horse...same as me. Tami has written two books revolving around a character named Elena Estes, the first book is Dark Horse...same as me.  Kidding.

At the beginning of Dark Horse in the Author's Note she had this to say:

Some of the finest, kindest, most generous people I have ever known have been in the horse business.  But on the flip side of that coin, some of the most vile, vicious, loathsome people I have ever known have been in the horse business.

To that I say "Amen sister!"

Elena Estes is a GREAT character.  Plotting and Pacing are tight.  I give The Alibi Man ... 5 Stars.  Which is my 'I want some more of it' rating.

One brand spankin' new copy of The Alibi Man.  To be awarded on Monday.  All you have to do is tell me what attribute you like in heroines.  And then check back sometime on Monday to see who got picked.

I like heroines who are ball busters.

Deanna Raybourn Book Giveaway

This is an odd little book.  Why is it odd you may be asking.  Well it just doesn't fit neatly into any one category.  At B&N it can be found in general fiction.  The back cover says historical thriller.  She won a RITA this year for the fist novel in the series 'Silent in the Grave' for Best Novel with Strong Romantic Elements.  It is historical...there is a romantic element - unrequited...and I wouldn't so much as call it a thriller as a mystery.

The jury is still out for me on the main character Julia (she is just not that interesting to me).  Brisbane I love.  The secondary main characters that are reoccurring are great.  I don't know...it's just....I like it.  I loved the first.  And I'm going to read the third, just because I have to know if Julia grows as a character and find out what Brisbane is getting up to.  This gets 3 stars.

And it can be yours.  All you need to do is leave a comment.  And tell me who your favorite hero in a novel is of all time.  On Monday I'll make a random pick.  And if you win you can read it and judge for yourself!  Cheers!

P.S. if you want to know a bit more about Deanna Raybourn you can click on her name and it will take you to her blog.  She is interesting.

Bear Grylls Book Giveaway

Okay.  I'll admit it.  I watch Man vs. Wild.  I just adore Bear Grylls.  The prospects that I will be somehow abandoned and alone in Panama and will need those survival skills he is teaching is slim I know.  But come on the guy is EASY on the eyes.  And that voice...whew...love that voice.

So of course my reading time is now colliding with the time I have set aside weekly for the Discovery Chanel.  The Kid Who Climbed Everest, does not disappoint.  It is a fascinating account of what it takes to climb Everest....spiritually, physically, and emotionally.

So I'm giving away one slightly used but well loved copy of The Kid Who Climbed Everest or as I like to refer to it.....Hottie Climbs a Big Hill.  Just leave me a comment and I will make a random pick on Monday.
