Snow Storm Cleanup

IMG_9889_edited-1.jpg
Saturday the 6th of February

So if your in the United States...you know that were getting absolutely hammered with snow here in Pennsylvania. I'm not complaining, at the farm we just deal. Keep the roofs clear buy standing on loader buckets and scrapping them off with long handled brooms. Our little 'sugar shack' is a snug home. The commute to the office is a short walk thanks to hubby plowing me a path to the barn and office.

It does make for tricky internet and phone connections. And 60,000 homes in Pittsburgh are still without electric (since this past saturday) according to today's news. Brrrrrr....it's got to be cold in those houses. Hopefully they will not have frozen pipes. Pennsylvania is in a state of emergency but all is well out here in New Wilmington.

It does sound like winter hit you with its full force. I can't imagine having to life under such conditions. I would still like to experience snow like that one day though.

We didn't get the snow like the southern and eastern part of Pennsylvania. This current storm, though, we're getting some accumulation. The snow coming down, though, looks like a normal snowfall for us. I may be heading down to the Pittsburgh area tomorrow. If so, I will see firsthand all that snow.

Bundle up and hunker down is about all those of us hit with snow can do. Our wind is blowing here in Roanoke, VA today with gusts of at least 50-55 mph. No shingles flying off the roof (yet) HA! But you can bet that Dorothy and Toto are hiding out with knees knocking in fear...

My family in NE PA tell me that they haven't seen snow like this since we were kids...

Send some of it out here, the resorts could use it...

I am really tired of shoveling snow, driving in snow and think I have cabin fever...the only place I go is to work. People in the city are digging out spaces and putting a chair in their shoveled spot to save their space.

I would be willing to bet someone could get shot if they stole that shoveled out space. People are going nuts.

Chuck and Emily tried to dig out a space on the street to park Emily's car but it was solid ice. Two boys actually came to the door today and asked Chuck if he wanted the driveway shoveled.

They wanted $10 and Chuck gave them $15 because they did the steps and walkway too. It snowed another 4 inches between the shoveling and the time I got home.

What a splendid shot! And it would be a boy's dream come true. It's like a different world...office on the farm. But I did see a similar (but parked) vehicle up at Mammoth last week -- they use it for making cross-country skiing tracks.,

I'm in northeast PA and we got slammed with it! I gave up on trying to clear the driveway. I hope spring gets here soon!

Thankfully you still have power. TNT and I went a week without power in '06 because of a blizzard and it was NOT fun. Hope the sun is shining so all that snow melts fast.

I love tractors! It's fun moving snow when you don't have to do it by hand :))

And your snow keeps on coming, I hear. We have local cold spots just now - nothing down here in the south, but further north there are 20 foot snowdrifts.
